We know that fighting addiction requires a complex approach. A person's physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health must be addressed in order to reach recovery. We strive to offer help and support in ways that fit each individual’s situation. Some of our services include:
Local Support Groups - If you are battling addiction and want to stay in the local community for work and family obligations, we offer classes and support groups that meet once a week to provide help and healing. Contact us to learn what groups are currently available.
Living Free Community also provides support groups for friends and family members of those with addictions. Our Concerned Persons Group is very similar to Al-Anon or Narc-Anon.
Referral to Residential Recovery Programs - Some people find that effectively battling addiction, requires leaving their current environment for a time. Living Free Community works closely with several Teen Challenge centers and other residential recovery organizations. We help individuals find the program that will fit their time commitment and their budget. We also often provide financial support to help cover entry fees into residential programs. Call 812-620-1878 if you are interested in enrolling in a residential program or Contact Us .
Recovery Resources - Download our list of recovery resources in the Southern Indiana and regional area. **Please note, we do not vet or endorse the agencies on this list. It is just a list compiled of available information. It is a combination of faith-based, public, private and general programs.
Testimonials
Laurie was married to an alcoholic for 19 years. She eventually realized she was codependent and "as sick as he was." Her children became substance abusers as teenagers. One son overdosed and was in a coma for a week. "I credit the Concerned Persons class with helping me deal with it," she said. "The key is to know when to get out of the way and let God." Laurie's son eventually came to accept Christ and started on the road to recovery. Her daughter also attended Living Free groups and found help and healing for her issues and relationships.
Joe completed a 12-step program called "Stepping Into Freedom" a group offered by Living Free Washington County similar to AA, but with a Christ-centered focus. "I had been using and abusing since I was 7. I thought it was normal," he said, noting that his father was an alcoholic as well."God has softened my heart so much," he said. "I thank God for jerking a knot in my tail and showing me what it's all about."
Stephanie has attended both the Concerned Persons group and the Insight group. "What makes this group so great is that it provides a spiritual perspective," said Stephanie. She is not just referring to support groups for addicts, but for family and loved ones as well. "When you are trapped by addiction, it seems like there's no way out. And you don't realize you're hurting those around you. Living Free groups give you an opportunity step back and see what's really going on, and how to deal with it."
